Introduction

This course is designed for the students of BA Fourth Semester (English) as prescribed by Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. It introduces students to the rich and diverse tradition of Indian literature written in various regional and vernacular languages and made accessible through translation into English. The course treats translation not merely as a linguistic exercise but as a creative, cultural, and critical act that enables meaningful dialogue between languages, literatures, and cultures within India and beyond.
